A mainly residential area, Claremont is also known for its close proximity to the Cadbury Chocolate Factory. The Cadbury Chocolate Factory began production in 1921 and is still going strong, not only as a major tourist attraction but also as a major local industry. Claremont is also home to Alpenrail, the largest and most realistic model train setup in Australia. A favourite for children due to model trains including Thomas the Tank Engine which children can actually drive themselves.
Claremont has three primary schools, Holy Rosary School, Claremont High School, Claremont College, the Claremont golf club, Cadbury Sportsgrounds and Abbotsfield Park and a population of 7 and a half thousand people.
