Made up of two distinct parts, Bruny Island is home to around 600 Tasmanians looking for true island living. Accessible by ferry from Kettering, this deceptively large island is in fact only 100 meters long. Ferries sail approximately 9 times a day to this part of Southern Tasmania and the vehicular ride is estimated at about 15 minutes.
From the history of Cape Bruny with its sheer cliffs and stunning seas, to the fairy penguins nestled in the sand dunes at the northern end to the heavily timbered, hilly southern end of the island, Bruny is a breathtaking escape that is still reasonably close to everyday living.
